join the slow fashion revolution
Based in Newcastle, NSW
My one-on-one sewing lessons are designed to take the overwhelm out of sewing and replace it with confidence, curiosity, and joy.
I’ll help you decode the mysterious language of sewing patterns, understand how your machine actually works, and turn those Pinterest dreams of self-drafted garments and handmade pieces into something you can wear, use, and be proud of.
We will focus on:
Building confidence from the ground up
Understanding why things work (not just following instructions blindly)
Learning skills to apply to all sewing endevours
Making sewing feel approachable, creative, and fun
There’s no such thing as a silly question here! Sewing is a skill.. not a talent you’re born with - and everyone starts somewhere.
How it works:
One-on-one private lessons
2-hour sessions
$250 per person (max 2 people)
Suitable for complete beginners (ages 10+)
All materials included
Use your own machine, or one of mine
I’m based in the Newcastle, NSW, and I’ll come to you whether that’s your kitchen table, studio, or creative space. Learning on your own machine, in your own environment, often makes everything click faster and feel far less intimidating.
Your first lesson:
Getting to know your sewing machine
Threading, tension, and troubleshooting
Basic stitches and seam finishes
Cutting and handling fabric
You’ll put everything into practice by making your own tote bag from upcycled fabrics, a practical, confidence-boosting project you can actually use.
Follow-up lessons:
Once you’ve got the basics down, the lessons become completely tailored to you.
We can:
Work through a garment of your choice
Learn how to read and alter sewing patterns
Explore self-drafting and design ideas
Repair, alter, or upcycle existing clothing
Build skills toward slow fashion and mindful making
These sessions are shaped around your goals.. whether that’s sewing clothes for yourself, learning to mend and upcycle, or simply finding a creative practice that feels grounding and joyful.
